Our Journey

Semperfields, our beloved 60-acre property in Bibbenluke, has been our home for the past nine years. Our journey began in December 2014, when we relocated from the Northern Territory, chasing the dream of a riverside retirement. What we found, however, was a land overrun by tussocks and noxious weeds. We didn’t let that deter us.

As stewards of the land, we felt a deep responsibility to restore its beauty. We started our farming journey with sheep, which helped manage the paddocks. However, as we delved deeper into farming, we realised that relying solely on sheep wouldn’t be enough for financial sustainability. We needed to diversify. That’s when lavender caught our eye.

We began with 500 plants and eventually added 1,500 more, aiming to produce lavender oil and culinary lavender. To further our sustainability efforts, we introduced honeybees to our farm. This diversification not only supported our farming approach but also thrived in our unique climate.

Despite facing droughts, fires, and floods, we’ve built a resilient and vibrant farm. This year, we proudly launched 'Baa Buzz n Bloom', a business dedicated to breeding high-quality White Dorper sheep and offering lavender and honey products, lovingly grown, harvested and distilled on farm.

Spring is a particularly magical time at Semperfields. It’s when our White Dorper lambs are born, and visitors can interact with these charming new additions. It’s a joyful sight that perfectly encapsulates our commitment to sustainable and compassionate farming. Our journey has been one of hard work, dedication, and passion.

Nearly a decade later, Semperfields stands as a testament to our resilience and growth. We invite you to explore our story, discover our products, and join us in the next chapter of our farm’s journey.

The 'Shepherdess & Keeper of the Bees'

Sherrida is our White Dorper stud manager, ensuring the health and well being of her beloved sheep. When not out shepherdessing, Sherrida overseas the research and development of our farm shop's delightful produce. As registered beekeeper, she also manages the apiary, though she prefers to keep a safe distance due to her not-so-friendly relationship with bee stings.
